Specify a wooden box logo with an approved artwork file, final dimensions, measured placement and a physical proof on the chosen finish. Review the closed display and open-box presentation. Branding approval should include legibility across acceptable wood variation, not just a clean digital rendering.

Start with the box in use

Where will the box face the customer: on a shelf, in a shipment or as part of a gift presentation? A lid logo may be right for a closed retail display, while an inside-lid message becomes visible only after opening. Sketch the unboxing sequence and mark the intended viewing angle. Then choose a branding method that fits the surface and artwork, rather than applying the same file to every location.

Compare physical proofs

Engraving, printing and applied labels or plates create different tactile and visual effects. Their performance depends on the actual material and finish. Ask for a proof at final size and position. Review fine lettering, small symbols and color contrast. If a box has strong grain, inspect several samples, not just the most photogenic one. A digital mockup cannot establish how the mark reads on real wood.

Make finish decisions measurable

Describe the finish through a physical reference sample, agreed color range and gloss level where relevant. Specify whether the inside and underside receive the same treatment. If the box contains an insert, evaluate the combination under typical retail lighting; a dark lining can make a dark logo and finish feel heavy, while a light lining may reveal marks more readily.

Document the approved version

Keep the final artwork file, logo dimensions, coordinates, color reference and approved physical sample with the purchase order. Ask the supplier to identify whether a new colorway or artwork revision changes setup or sampling. This reduces ambiguity on repeat orders.

Where should the logo go on a gift box?

Choose placement from the sales and unboxing sequence: outside lid for a closed display, inside lid for the reveal, or a discreet underside mark. Measure the location from a defined edge and test it with the actual contents and retail sleeve.
